+A package with a compiled `.node` binding (`serialport`, `better-sqlite3`,
+`node-pty`) cannot be bundled the way an ordinary npm dependency is. esbuild
+would inline its JS, but the binding is loaded through a path computed
+relative to the original package's own directory, which breaks once that JS
+moves into `dist/backend.js` somewhere else entirely. It also cannot go on

+one instance of, and a serial port binding is one plugin's business, not
